When most of us started in the wedding/events industry, we didn’t see many people that looked like us anywhere: at events as attendees, on the vendor team, at venues, and not even on wedding websites or blogs. Somehow we found each other. Scratch that – we flocked to each other – and now we get to create beautiful wedding experiences together that represent us. Our Vibe. Our Community.

Our History
POC Wedding Party is a project of Make it Mariko, an experiential events agency led by women of color in San Francisco. In 2015 Make it Mariko started our event planning journey doing strictly weddings and nonprofit events. As Make it Mariko grows as an events agency, we wanted to create a branch to specifically focus on the unique event experience that is a wedding, especially a Bay Area wedding.
We’re dedicated to creating more opportunities for local POC creatives, small businesses, chefs & caterers, DJs & musicians. We’re especially excited about creating space for talented POC Event Planners to curate personal experiences with our wedding clients.
